Eric Heffelfinger

Goldsmith and gemologist Eric Heffelfinger studied Wearable Metals and Jewelry Design at the University of Colorado at Boulder and at the University of Minnesota. He received his Gemological Certificate at the Gemological Institute of America. He has owned jewelry design studios and galleries on Vashon Island and in Minneapolis, Minnesota for more than 30 years. His work is represented in numerous private and corporate collections.

In his own words:

The basic technique that I have used in the 40 years that I have been a goldsmith is lost wax casting. Fabrication, when needed, is done afterward. The goal of my designs is to be fluid rather than sharp edged. To be water rather than rock.

Metal artists have the unique opportunity to use some of our planetís most beautiful resources as the medium to artistic expression. As a gold and silversmith this privilege is magnified. It is my endeavor to incorporate the most basic materials along with some of the most rare. To honor wood and granite as much as diamond. To place the same value on all our Earthís resources.
