The Island Series (Bainbridge Island, Washington).
I learned perspective drawing when I was seven years old. I see the horizon line and the vanishing points everyplace I look. My drawing style is inspired by Art Deco wood block prints from the 1930s.
The drawings are essentially high contrast black and white with a touch of color. Blue sky, blue water, pink pants, yellow curbs, green water, and bright colored folded cranes.
These drawings are familiar places on the island, from unusual viewpoints.
Ginger and Lucy is a shadow drawing. The lines converge on the pink pants. The contrast is sharp but the shapes are soft.
The drawings are Indian ink and Prismacolor on D'Arches paper.
