White cedar, myrtle, kiriwood, shoji paper and glass

Dimensions:  36" w x 48" t x 19.5" d.

This remarkable piece of cabinetry is an example of the work of a master craftsman in the Japanese furniture tradition.  To see and use this piece is to experience all senses:  symmetry, subtlety, scent, touch.  A top glass panel allows filtered light to showcase the objects below, perhaps a ceramic tea bowl.  Its texture is like rain drops.  The shoji paper side panels reveal a leaf pattern in the light. The interior live edge display shelf is a subtle contrast to the symmetry of the whole piece. Sliding panels and drawers have finger holes to assist in opening, softly and smoothly.  It is an experience to open the cabinet and experience the wonderful wood scents, perhaps white cedar.
